Hey there! Ryan here.

First off, I wanted to thank my amazing and selfless lady, Steph, for allowing me to use her platform to show my weight-loss journey! For years, I haven’t been very keen on looking at pictures of myself, or even my reflection in the mirror. Without getting into delicious details, I found myself frequenting Culvers and Kwik Trip all too often and creating other unhealthy habits that became difficult to overcome. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed my college years, but looking back, I wish I would’ve treated my body as it deserved.

Recently, I moved across the country to be with Steph, who has always been my better half. She kept me motivated, conscious, and determined to become the best version of myself that I knew I could be. I was able to find success losing weight by following these 3 tips:

1) Be consistent

One thing I find hard to do is to cut everything unhealthy from my diet- it’s just too hard! I still enjoy going out to eat and trying delicious new foods, but for me, it has become all about balance and consistency. Find healthy meals that you enjoy, treat yourself on occasion, but quickly get back on track and keep moving towards your goals.

2) Cut the fast food/binge drinking

Frequent visits to fast food joints and drinking alcohol were one of the toughest things to cut out of my diet. Being a Wisconsinite, land of beer and cheese, fried food and surpluses of alcohol can be hard to avoid. Falling into the habit of using the weekend as an excuse to drink set me back as well. Although I love spending time with friends, I more often than not found myself feeling like a pile of garbage on Sundays. Cutting back on these choices have also saved me a lot of money, too. Get creative in the kitchen or follow this link to some yummy and healthy recipes that Steph and I have made!

3) Get moving

Move. It’s that simple. All my life I had a reason to keep moving, which was because of sports. When my athletic career came to an end, I struggled to keep myself moving, because I had no practices to go to or seasons to train for. Whether it’s going for a run or walk, hiking, biking, or lifting weights at the gym, make it a goal to move your body somehow, everyday. At this point in my journey, being active is one of the most enjoyable parts of my day. Try these equipment-free, home workouts and get moving, today!
