Tahoe Time

Growing up in the Midwest, I’ve always been surrounded by countless magnificent, large lakes. Well, what’s so great about this Lake Tahoe I always hear about? HA! Take a look & see for yourself…

Visiting Lake Tahoe was a no-brainer, must-see before bowing out of Northern California. We drove the scenic 3 hours & enjoyed an overnight getaway while basking in the big blue beauty of Lake Tahoe. The enormous body of water is truly as clear & blue as seen in pictures! #nofilter needed. From afar, you can visibly see large fallen trees, clusters of rocks, & a painting-like blend of dreamy blue/green tones. What blew my mind even more is that we didn’t see one single fish although it is populated with a large variety! Perhaps this is what created an even more peaceful, magical feel. Surrounding the lake are magnificent trees & numerous, well maintained, hiking trails to guide you along.

Are you ready to pack your bags, yet?

Staying in South Lake Tahoe

Ryan found us a cozy little airbnb at Washoe Lodge that was perfect for our one night stay. Amenities included: full size bed, refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, sink, coffee maker (most important), bathroom with shower, & T.V. Our phones were never able to connect to the wifi which we were fine with- it just allowed for more undistracted quality time together playing cribbage & an early bedtime after a long day! For dinner, we met our college friend, Rocky, at Lake Tahoe Aleworx, who just finished up her senior Physical Therapy clinical nearby. This self-pour brew bar & pizzeria was awesome. We each received a scannable bracelet that when held up to your selection, would turn green & allow you to pour any amount, charging your card on file by the ounce. The pizzas were perfected in a wood-fired oven & were so delicious that I didn’t think to take a picture until after we scarfed them down- dang it! The next morning, we grabbed coffees & explored The Shops at Heavenly Village, which also is the base of the 2.4 mile Heavenly Mountain Gondola that is used for skiing & scenic rides. Everyone we met kept saying, “you came at a great time!” in reference to there being smaller crowds than normal as ski season winds down & summer is still a few weeks out. South Lake Tahoe is also notorious for their resorts, 16+ casinos, relaxation spas, endless adventure, & entertainment.

Lake Tahoe, you are extraordinary & we will certainly be back!

“To obtain the air angels breathe, you must go to Tahoe.”
